Wardrobe Wednesday!

Heyo!
Today is "Wardrobe Wednesday!" And this Wednesday I am a Cowboy! Being a Cowboy is a lot harder than it looks. To be a good cowboy you have to, of course look like one, and you would also need a horse. That horse right there, no, not that one, the one in the picture with me, is my friend Speckles. Speckles is from Australia. You know the place where everyone has cool accents.
Anyway, a Cowboy also needs proper equipment like a lasso. Eventually I would like to have an actual Cowboy pistol. But Bananas wont let me get one. She says I could get hurt (yeah, right).
I might be a Cowboy today, but I like to change it up a bit and next week you will be surprised what I, Dexter, have in store for you!

Chimpanzee Poetry

The other day, when I was making the blog rounds, I found this post about poems on Mary Bennett's blog. In the post she was talking about her daughter being challenged to write a limerick, and I left her this comment:

I think your daughter should write a poem about Chimpanzees, who are often overlooked in poetry. Of course it is hard to rhyme chimpanzee with anything else. Thanks for visiting my blog, be sure to come back and see me again !!!

Later I went back to my own blog and found this lovely poem in the comment box. Miss Mary wrote a poem all about, well, ME! Thank you Miss Mary, I love you!!

I think I shall never see,
anything as wonderful as this chimpanzee!

No, not Chester, his name is Dexter
This cuddly funny, family jester!

And I'll read the blog of this imp
my favorite family's little chimp!

Happy Father's Day. Papa

This is my Papa! He is a great guy, and we have a lot of fun together. He likes to play games on the computer, and he likes to play soccer with us. He has this really cool cell phone. I want a cell phone too, but Papa says that I cannot have one yet. I cannot imagine why! There are so many wonderful things I could do with a phone! This is Papa's phone:

Look at me!! Right there, I'm his background! I also like to change his ring tones and then call him when he is in a crowd! The most fun was when I put Usher's "yeah" on his phone. Then I called him when he was in a quiet waiting room. Tee hee!!
And here, you can see, most of Papa's pictures are of me! I cannot imagine why he doesn't want me to have my own phone, it seems to me I could have all sorts of fun!

Happy Father's Day to the best Papa a chimpanzee could ever wish for!!

Welcome!

Hello! This blog is to report on the adventures of Dexter, and his wild life! There is a rather large cast of characters, who will be making regular appearances on this blog. First up, is Dexter, and his best girl, Bananas! Bananas is Dexter's mommy, and she has loved him through two extended hospital visits (for Dexter, we told you he had a wild life!) and all sorts of antics.
One of Dexter's more civilized activites is afternoon tea! He even has his own teapot, tiny cup and saucer.

That Dexter, he is always monkeying around! Last Christmas the star went missing on top of the tree! Turns out that Dexter hid it because he wanted the starring role. He said he liked the view from up there. We had one sad little chimpanzee when the tree was taken down!

Here we have Dexter's family. He is a real practical joker, so the family is often victimized by Dexter. Somehow, he is loved despite his antics, a real member of the family that we just cannot do without!

Left to right, back row, we have Tiger (she's 12), The Big Guy (he's 16), The Oldest (18). In the front row is Bananas (8), Dexter (we're just not sure how old he is, he will not give us a straight answer!), Boo (10 years old) and last but not least, Missy (age 6).
So now you know the family. Follow the blog, come back often and meet more of the characters, and read about the adventures, and misadventures, of Dexter, and his wild life!!
Some things to look forward to:
As we get more organized with this family project, we will have some regular features such as: Wardrobe Wednesdays (for Dexter has quite a sense of fashion, and a large wardrobe for a chimp), and Funky Fridays (you should see the playlist of music Dexter enjoys). Dexter also enjoys sports, video games, books, and is even interested in podcasting!
